I haven’t checked in for a while and I know you all miss me. Come on, admit it, you totally missed me 😀
I’ve come to a slight lull in editing/writing. The edits for my next book aren’t due till January, so I have a little break. So that means I’m fidgety, like an addict with withdraw. I want to keep writing but I know I need a “forced” break sometimes.
Okay, enough about my anxiety issues. If you’ve been watching my posts you’d know that Secret Scarlet came out at the end of last month. So go check that out HERE, if you haven’t already.
I designed a book cover this week for a fellow author (one of my favs). It turned out awesome but it’s still secret so I can’t share yet. You have to wait until the author’s cover reveal to see it. Most of you follow her (I think), so watch out for it. Be excited and check out the book when it comes out! And remember I design book covers, banners, book trailers, postcards and badges! So if you’re ever in need…
I get to interview this author (next month I think) on Freshly Booked so I’m excited about that too. I’ve always wanted to meet this girl so it’s going to be a fun interview! Speaking of interview, I have one scheduled on my blog this week, so look for that on Monday.
On the home front, my little boy is getting settled in preschool. Unfortunately, my perfect little angel (that’s a joke) is being bad at school. He’s very bold, unlike me, and doesn’t like to clean up or follow directions. Apparently he’s causing a ruckus and trying to convince the other kids they don’t have to listen to the teacher. Not good. So he’s on a sticker chart and gets rewards for the days he gets all stickers (which has been two days since the beginning of the school year).
But I have to give him some slack. He’s an only child, he’s never been in day care or around a lot of kids so adjusting to rules and sharing are hard for him. But still, my kid needs to stop causing rebellion against his classmates. I’ve also been told he’s a very good debater, which I know very well.
Speaking of my son, he also flooded my bathroom last week. If you follow me on FB, you heard the story, so I won’t repeat it. The good thing was that he told me about it, the bad thing was he tried to clean it up with whatever he found (rugs, clothes, etc). God, you gotta love four year old little boys. Funny as hell at times but at others you want to lock them up in their room and give yourself a time out.
Lastly, Christmas season is almost here. I hate the holidays, especially Christmas. I think maybe I’d enjoy it more if I had more money but alas, I’m a writer and will probably always be poor. *Sigh*
I’ve been a little grumpy in life as well, probably the reason why I’ve been writing so much. Instead of crying, whining or killing certain people, I write. It helps keep my anxiety at a safe level and my mind occupied on things other than the stuff bothering me (which most of the time are unchangeable). But I guess some good came out of it. I finished a book in the past few weeks, got it submitted and accepted by my publisher. It’ll be out in August 😉
I hope the rest of you are doing well and have a great weekend!
My latest annoyances:
Getting asked by several people, “Why are you still working? You’re an author so you should be rich now, shouldn’t you?” Can I smack them in the head with a printed copy of CK1? Seriously? Stop saying that!
Authors trying to “friend” me on my personal FB. I don’t friend people unless I know them. I’ll like your page but why would you want to be “friends” with me? I seriously doubt you want to read my status’ about Thomas or seeing the million pictures I post of my kid.
My boss teasing me about the title of CK2. There is nothing hilarious about “Seed of the Master” or teasing me about vampires.
Bullying authors on Goodreads. People are giving books bad ratings before they’re even released or ganging up and giving bad reviews. I’ve heard a lot about this lately and it makes me pissed! Why are people so mean?!
And my happy thought:
Nightwalkers #1 comes out next month! I should be starting edits on it soon and also get the cover art. Let’s see if Dawne (the cover artist for SCP) does my Caleb justice 😀
