“You write the Nightwalker series?”  He watched her nod her head, “Why did you choose to keep your identity secret?”

“Well-“  Ashleigh began to stroke the side of the bottle nervously, her eyes looking down at it briefly, “It was a mixture of a few things.  At first I was all excited to see my name on a finished book but then my mom read my rough draft and after seeing the horror on her face when she read a dirty scene in it, I found that I wasn’t ready for that kind of reaction.  There’s a lot of-“  Ashleigh paused, her voice lowering a little as she spoke, “-me-in my books that I really don’t want people to see.  Things that even though you think you’re making them up, they really come from somewhere deep within or even from your own desires and likes.”

“So you’re trying to hide yourself?”

What an interesting question to raise. I put a lot of myself in my stories. If I’m utilizing a pen name, am I hiding? Like the scene.

    • I wondered the same thing. Why wouldn’t they want to put their name on their work?

      • Probably for the realms your character mentioned. I write about things I don’t want my mom to know I write. I would know it’s me so the question is do I care if no one else knows.
